Beatmania 2nd mix and apends?

ok i got from a friend a while ago beatmania gottamix and 3rd mix and decided i wanted to actually play them so i imported for 20$ beatmania 2nd mix... now my ps2 is moded with a flip top mod and i use a gameshark lite to boot imports like DDR 5th mix and the like...

the game 2nd mix loads fine. but when i hit the append feature and open the top of my ps2 and swap it with say gottamix. and hit the start... it dosnt load? when i eject and insert the append it ask's for the 2nd mix arcade disc. and when i put that back in it asks for it again...

so thoes are the 2 methoids i have tryed... has anyone got those games to work in a fliptop modded ps2?

Only thing that's gonna make appends work is a mod-chipped PS1. The game specifically waits for you to press the open/eject button, so a fliptop won't work. Neither will a mod-chipped PS2, since those don't handle PS1 games quite right. At least modded PS1's are pretty cheap.

It can be done on a PS1 with the swap disc approach. Load 2nd Mix normally, then choose Disc Change. Put in a domestic game, lift the lid switch, and put it back down so it'll recognize the disc. After about 10 seconds, swap the disc with the append (yes, you have to do it with the motor running).
