I play in these giant skate shoes, they're heavy but I find I can heel-toe most songs and hitting the corners of two pads get them 95% of the time.

They're amazing. I got my first Heavy AAA with them.

I used to play with these quiksilver skate shoes :

They look good IMO and work pretty well on the arcade. But they were a bit too heavy and way too grippy for my cobalt flux, which kinda sucks if you spin your feet a lot when doing crossovers (plus, the creaking noises used to piss me off). So I kept playing with socks at home, even though I had a lot of blisters and my feet hurt like hell.

But today my feet hurt so much that I really couldn't play at all. So I finally bought some Nike Frees. They're pretty damn hard to find where I live (I had to drive all the way to Monaco to find them). They're Nike Frees 5.0 V4 :

They're AWESOME! Very, very light and flexible. It feels like playing barefoot except that it doesn't hurt.

So hm, Nike Free FTW.

I wear ankle socks when I play DDR. You'd be surprised such a small change in sock style makes your whole body cooled down.

I need to be getting some new kicks soon, my Vans are just getting so worn out.

How are the Adidas Superstar II (shell toes) for arcade play?

Mostly I just need something lighter than the Vans.

I wear New Balance 1105.

I got them a couple months ago and I think they are the first sneakers I've worn since high school. (I generally wear boots/shoes.) But they are ultra-comfortable and I love them. Also I have abnormally wide feet (5E) so it is nice to be able to have found sneakers that FIT me!

When I started playing DDR I played in DC shoes which were annoying heavy and dumb.

After I picked up my first AAA I switched to Nike basketball shoes because it had amazing ankle support which I needed to better understand the game and develop my playstyle. I picked up about 100 Heavy Arcade Version AAA's but realized that I needed another shoe to keep up with my rising skill level because the basketball shoes couldn't hang anymore because of the overall weight.

I switched to Nike Shox (running shoe version) which were lighter than my basketball shoes didn't have the ankle support I once had but had an amazing heel support since I play flat footed and used that part of my foot the most. I picked up about 330 Heavy Arcade AAA's with 3 of them being 10 footers (Bag, Sakura, Paranoia Survivor). The shoes are a big henderance with songs like Max 300, Unlimited, PSMO so I decided to retire the shoes and get some new ones, it was really hard to part with them because of the great amount of success I had with them.

Recently I started playing ITG2 and sightread passed about 10 12-15 footers with Puma Cells and decided that these would be best to finish off Extreme Arcade and Supernova Arcade Versions (10 songs left on extreme, 22 on Supernova). The shoes conform to my foot really well better than my shox front foot portion wise. The heel isn't as solid as my shox but it's still solid because it's the cell version with a really thick heel. The shoe feels amazing and I picked up about 8 more AAA's to bring my Arcade AAA count to 438.

So pretty much what I'm trying to say is get shox, frees, or pumas if you want a lightweight reliable shoe that fits well and feels good for AAA's if you have the skill level to do so : )

lolz I play in Lands' End rubber mocs/clogs, they cost me $6 and I put it on a Gift Card (Team Cheapness).

My previous shoes got ruined when they were put in the oven, LOL! Those were Lands' End generic athletic shoes, which were $6, as well.

I semi-like New Balances, but they're not great for DDR -- the sole isn't flat enough, they're heavy, and the back area around your achilles' tendon wears out pretty quickly. I noticed that I have duct tape in that area on every NB shoe that I've ever owned.

I used to play in Nike map shoes (Air Carolinas), but those are discontinued. They had maps on each shoe, and they were blue. The sole exploded when I AAAed of the 10s, so I guess it demanded more Respect than I was giving it (lol).

I do like the rubber mocs now, though. They're very bouncy and they don't make a lot of noise.

I don't give a rats asss on what shoes in wearing, it doesn't bother me as lonf as the shoe covers my whole foot aand its not 4 sizes ti big laugh.gif

For some reason I don't believe that someone that size couldn't keep the freeze arrow down when they played unless they were doing something wrong...That reason is I weight 100-110 and that does not happen to me with or without shoes In fact I even played in 4th grade when I weight under 75 pounds come to think about it.

*I myself prefer everyday shoes though its more comfortable for me and just seems like the safer way to go.
