I looked at that page's source, and while I haven't looked up a refresher on how the POST method for forms works in HTML, this is my take on what pressing that submit button actually does:
http://polling.mtv.com/servlet/viewsflash?history=2,MTVPOLL2,*?pollstat=r&cmd=tally&pollid=uvg_poll&results=servererror.html&question=f

(that's for a vote on DDR)
However, that doesn't actually work, and some experiementation led to this link:
http://polling.mtv.com/servlet/viewsflash?pollstat=r&cmd=tally&pollid=uvg_poll&results=servererror.html&question=f

If you refresh that a couple times, you'll notice some odd behavior in the tallies...

UPDATE: The Halo people are running scripts already! http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=322966
Reading their thread to attempt to dupe their work for DDR...

SECOND UPDATE: Coming up with wget command-line to autorefresh this all night...

Ok, new post to call attn to this...For any 'nix, run:
while true; do wget -O /dev/null -i /mnt/windows/ddrgood.txt; done
where you replace /mnt/windows/ddrgood.txt with the path to a file containing the URL http://polling.mtv.com/servlet/viewsflash?pollstat=r&cmd=tally&pollid=uvg_poll&results=servererror.html&question=f

This should work...need a lot of people to do it tho.

DDR? At the top?! Like that'll ever happen.

I know those GTA 3/VC fanboys are gonna ruin it.

Was looking through the source code of the poll page and figured out the letter assigning
http://polling.mtv.com/servlet/viewsflash?pollstat=r&cmd=tally&pollid=uvg_poll&results=servererror.html&question=f
you should see some random letters with votes and %. In the HTML source
there is a letter corrisponding to each game a a-p or something. DDR is F
Halo is ironicly H. Basicly, the letter is straight forward. First selection A, secound selection B and so on. So , looking at the error page, alot of activity
is going on on the Halo voting (thanks to their script). Now granted, I think
scripts like that are lame, but this is MTV we're talking about which is twice
as lame now. So anything goes. Just passing on the info I figured out
Update : Ironicly, the only two games seeing the most activity are DDR and Halo. Looks like its DDR Geeks vs. Halo Script Kiddies for dominence in probably the only time MTV will ever have its polling system decoded and scripted for massive voting (Wonder if MTV will change its polling system after this)

Wow, that's ignorance. They specifically ask you if you want to vote again, not if you want to clear your cookies and then vote again. Also, show me the cookie, and I will eat my words.

Wow, from just looking at the activity for a bit, Halo is smacking down DDR by around 15:1.

We stand no chance.

Their scripts work faster, and probably more people doing it.

But hey, even so, 2nd isn't bad.

E8.gif and get me a donut!

Hmm- if anyone is really serious about winning it, here's a link to the script the Halo people made. http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=323342

If anyone modifies it to vote DDR, it would be really cool.

Alright! The right-clicking trick finally got it to work for me.

I'll start voting before I go to bed and keep it running until I get back from class tomorrow afternoon, which is about 12 hours... dat's a lotta votes. E4.gif

So it's confirmed that the polls are at least keeping track of all the voting? Then I guess all that remains to be seen is whether MTV will actually go by those numbers when they announce the results. Everyone who knows how to setup one of those code things, do it, and everyone who doesn't, get out the tape.

And also, someone who knows how to read that source code should probably update us on what the current standings are, periodically. This is war, people. Let's kick Halo's arse!

Actually that code does not work. It has to be a POST request, and it must send the MTV_ID cookie along with it. I have a script that does work, however. I'm not sure if I should post it here or not.

IF DDR does win this poll, than there will probably thousands of kids watching this program. Then that will mean DDR will become a new mainstream fad, meaning swarms and swarms of newbies hogging the machines at every arcade I know of!!!! frust.gif

From the looks of it now, it looks like DDR is once again gaining some ground.
