Hopefully the mods will let this thread stand on it's own. I think more people with Flux's read this forum than CF's forum. Im going to cut and paste my post from over there here and see what type of responses I get.

Well, I managed to get my hands on 2 more control boxes, one of which works with the Red Octane adapter and the other doesn't. After opening everything up and comparing boxes, the only real difference I can find is with the firmware revisions. Everything else seems to be the same. The boards have different numbers on them but that could just indicate the production number for the board run and not that there were necessarily any revisions made to the board itself.

So, what Im wondering is if people would be willing to open their box up and post what number revision they have firmware wise. Here's what I can add to start with:

34/05 - Works with Red Octane adapters and Intrex adapters. RO adapter works on Xbox and PC

36/05 - Works with Intrex adapter on Xbox, does not work on RO adapter with any platform.

28/05 - Works with no adapters I have on hand. Works fine with the PS2

01/06 - Works with Intrex adapters, does not work with RO adapters at all.

So, anyone else willing to open their box up (Just 4 screws) and post what version firmware they have and what it works with?

BTW, the firmware revision number is located on a white sticker on the PIC chip in the upper righthand corner of the circuit board.

Im going to look into buying an adapter setup to reprogram the PIC chips in these boxes. I already have an EPROM burner for some other work I do so it's just a matter of getting an adapter for the burner and trying to find some kind of test lead that will clip on the chip without it having to be desoldered from the board.

The PIC is surface mounted so removing it is not going to be a lot of fun.

Before I go that route, tho, I may buy another control box from a different company and try to wire it in to replace the CF ones. Sinistar had replaced his boxes with the Red Octane control boxes for their metal pad but that seems to have been discontinued. I may try the MyMyBox Blue Shark control box since it has the correct connector on it (Wrong gender tho)

One way or the other, Im going to get 100% compatability with the Xbox and PC if it kills me.. and that includes doubles play.

Well, as best I can tell, the "latest" is always changing. I have two Flux's bought weeks apart that have different firmware revisions in them. Judging by the labels, if you interpret the revisions as (week/year), then who knows WTF Cobalt Flux is doing. The numbers are all over the place.
