To this day, I still like 4th Mix Plus the best, musically.

What I would really like to see, though it probably won't ever happen, is a DDR Retromix. That is, something like a 4th Mix Plus song selection but with the addition of the speed modifiers from DDR Max and beyond.

Rationale: the addition of the speed modifiers would help eliminate the confusion between sixteenths vs. jumps in songs like Conga Feeling (at least to me) at the 4th Mix Plus game's only available 1x speed. It would also help eliminate the big wall of arrows mess (again in my opinion) that occurred with songs such as Orion 78.

The steps still wouldn't change, but the mods would obviously help with the readability.

Here's my revised list:

1. 5th Mix
2. MAX2/7th Mix
3. Extreme
4. Supernova
5. 3rd Mix

Reasoning behind each choice:

5th Mix because the songlist is amazing. It's stepcharts are good, and I have most of the songs from 5th Mix on StepMania so I can play the songs without having to travel 3 hours or spending $75 to buy the home version.

7th Mix because it was the first arcade version I played, and because the songlist is awesome. Stepchart quality is very good, and it doesn't have any really retarded songs.

Extreme because it had pretty much everything that MAX2 had, and was the version I played the most. Stepchart quality is as good as 5th Mix and 7th Mix, which means awesome.

Supernova because the songlist is pretty good. Stepchart quality is generally good, though some songs have stepcharts that are really, really awful (FaxX and HDV Oni for example)

3rd Mix because it's just a good DDR game, and it had a pretty big songlist for it's time. Of course, Extreme and Supernova have way bigger songlists, but in 3rd Mix, you didn't have to go through 299 songs to find the one you wanted to play.

3rd Mix also had 2nd Mix included. For the time, 2nd mix also had some really good music.

Extreme is my favorite too because it is a very simple interface, so it is easy to learn to play. It has many different sorting methods for songs, and it has many mixes like 8th Mix, etc. The options menu is very easy to learn to operate, and it makes a cool noise when you scroll horizontally when selecting options, like a pinging noise. I have so far played only DDR Extreme, and I plan to stick to it E4.gif

Here's my list:

( 1 ) Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix
( 2 ) Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix Plus
( 3 ) Dance Dance Revolution Extreme
( 4 ) Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA
( 5 ) Dance Dance Revolution Solo 2000

I still have yet to play a few of the past versions, but from the ones I have played, I'd have to say this would be my top five. E1.gif

Well my Favorite is EXTREME due to the load of great songs.
Supernova would be number 2 because I like the design and you get to put your name in the machine when you get a new record for a song.
I've only played MAx2,Extreme. and SN.....

I would love to play Max 1 frown.gif
