Have you slowed with DDR in the past week or 2?
Your body gets to a point where it thinks what you do is what you need.
I know you like "WTF" but it true.
So I say you need you play more DDR. happy.gif

A good warmup is probably good to have, but I never really stretch/warmup. I just try and jump into Candy or Bag ... then begin transformation from sleek & dry man to shiny & drenched man. riiight.gif

Pains are a part of DDR if you weren't ever that active before. I had mucho pain in the areas where Liquid Zero wrote.. and in my feet too. Back aches are probably due to bad posture or just not enough upper body strength maybe? Considering if you do not use the bar, your back might be overloaded.

I typically play DDR first thing in the morning right after rolling out of bed, so I need to start out by stretching my feet and legs a bit or else I'll be in pain for the first 15 minutes of play.

I also do back stretches before play just for the heck of it. So far, I haven't had any major pains/injuries over the past year of playing.

I doubt it. Then again, I know little of soy.

Honestly, I see little point in stretching. Just playing a moderate song is perfect exercise/warmup before you get into harder songs. If you don't wanna waste a song, just shadow somebody. You're stretching in the necessary areas in the process, anyway.

I said some of that, but for all you've said, you're right.

The first time I attempted Endless Mode on Heavy I made it to just over half an hour before one of my legs cramped up and I immediately stopped.

Then, on another occasion, I was doing a little freestyle thingy on I Like To Move It Light. Somehow, my foot landed on my pad funny during a spin, and I went tumbling down. My foot had a huge black bruise on the side for at least two weeks. ...Funny thing was, I tried to finish the song with my hands before I figured, "...Yeah. Not worth it." XD

I've had some minor neck-pain lately too.

I used to play on my toes and the arches in my feet would hurt like hell the next morning so now I play completely flat-footed...but I don't know if that's too good for my knees and ankles either. When I completely fall apart I'll let you know -_-.

Ankle and shin pain for the most part, but nothing that could seriously affect my playing. Maybe I should start warming up instead of jumping right into Tsugaru heavy.

Neck? You're probably too tensed-up when you play. Otherwise, people's necks shouldn't be affected, at all, by DDR.

Shins...yeah.

Are you eating before you play? You probably should if you don't. Your legs could fatigue without the adequate energy, and thus rely on its own energy source to keep functioning at that intensity, which causes pain. That's probably why my shins also hurt when I haven't eaten much before I go to the arcade.

Funny, I got a burger and a drink one time after taking a break from DDR, and when I played again, my legs were full of energy. biggrin.gif

You gotta remember too, when you play long enough, you will start to wear out the cartiledge (sp?) in your legs, so that will explain some of the pain... so yes, vitamins and milk would help a little in this situation.

I wonder if 10-20 years down the road there'll be a mysterious rise in young adults with bad knees and ankles on accounft of stomping and jumping on a hard plastic surface thousands of times.

today i played Look to the Sky like four times in a row nonstop in training mode (i dont know why but this song is hell for me) and afterwards i had a horrible stabbing pain in my ribs and lung. this lasted about 5 minutes, but it was really agonizing. DDR also gives me a dry mouth from all the fast inhaling.

That would be a cramp. I get that sometimes too when I'm very active.

Hello everyone!
My back pain has gone away for the most part. It may not have been DDR at all that caused it. Of course I recently busted a blood vessel in my eye too and my mom pointed the finger to DDR again for busting my eye too. Maybe she's just trying to coax me into not playing the game since she hates it so much.

Also, I DO drink milk and it IS doing my body good.

I don't think I would eat JUST before playing DDR. I used to do that a lot. Not fun!! goog.gif

Its good to play DDR as hard as you can, cuz thats what makes you better. But know your limits. Take breaks in between extreme game play, stretch out before starting, drink water, stuff like that. Thats what I do at least.....

I meant about 10 minutes prior to playing DDR.

Amen to that! Water is my best friend when I play DDR. I don't think I'd be able to play as long as I do without it.

The other day at a local Fry's Electronics, I did something I definitley should not of done. I played nothing but catas and diffucult 8 footers (plus an attempt at LOM) for around an hour with absolutley no water at all. What happened to me? I threw up my whole lunch in the cafe' in the store. riiight.gif

On Black Friday, I sprained my ankle from falling down the stairs. I could barely walk by the time I got to the mall. By the end of the day, I could barely pass Maxx Unlimited. I guess this game helped out my sprained ankle because of constantly making it move? I guess..
