I've seen too many a tourny get screwed up because of people who should have been in heavy jumping down to standard and whipping everyones buttocks. I have been to at least 4 or 5 tourny's knowing I was going to lose every single one of them and still entered heavy. It's just for fun, its not for the prize. Get the experience, meet the people and have a good time. Dont humiliate the people who aren't as good as you. |
Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking. You shouldn't enter standard if you can do all the 9's on heavy. That is completely unfair to the standard players. I honestly think there shouldn't be standard tournies cuz there is always gonna be someone that can AA and AAA on heavy, and he will still enter the standard tourny just for easy money. When I went to a my first tournament and saw the people there I knew that I would lose, but I didn't care. I just wanted to have fun with it. Of course I didn't have to much fun because I was nervous and choked on my songs, but that isn't the point. I'd say enter heavy or don't enter at all. |

Like I said in my previous post. It isn't fair to the other real standard players. So what if any max can kill you. In my first tournament the only max I was able to pass wuz Max 300. |

If it isn't fair, the design of the tournament is flawed. |

the tournaments I go to tend to have a 7 footer cap on standard/light mode songs. and then any song can be picked in heavy. usually someone won't pick a 10 unless they either practice them a lot (me) or are really desperately trying to level the playing field (erm...lots of people). I personally won't pick a 10 if I know the other person doesn't have a chance of passing it.
if the tourney was being run fairly, there should probably be a qualifying song for heavy. if you can't get a certain score on it, you have to play in standard. that would be the most fair way to do it. at any rate, I still say this guy should do heavy though. So what if someone picks a 10 on you? if you can't pass 10s chances are you won't win against the person on an 8 (no offense, but that's just how it is). Enter heavy for fun, see how you match up, and get the experience of what high level competition is about. that's all there is to it. |

Alright, biggest dissapointment of my life. They made this thing sound like a tournament but it was just a contest. You could only pick two songs on light, and they recorded your score using the better of two songs you picked. I guess after a few weeks they will announce a winner. I whored out long train run'n twice and ended up getting 2 greats on it. Ill be pissed if someone black flags or gets a aaa and beats me, its a very local event so only some of the locals will probably enter. _________________

Thats 100% True!
We should have tournament that are 1 - 9steps(Heavy) and 8 - 10(Heavy).
No standard or light!!! (for P.A any way.)
Don't say that way sucks befor you play one like that. |
I agree, but I don't think there shouldn't be special divisions, just one Heavy tournament. I am only saying this though cuz, like I said before, someone that is really good could enter the easier Heavy tournament and easily win. That is why all the tournaments around here are just one Heavy PA competition. I have seen someone try to have two competitions, one easier than the other, and no one entered it. I think maybe a 3 people did and everyone else entered the harder tournament for a challenge. If you are not good enough for the harder tournament who cares? You should enter it anyways, I mean it doesn't matter if you lose it should just motivate you to practice and get better. |
