There's no way in hell I want any more anime songs in DDR. Sure, I love anime, but I don't want even more retarded anime otakus to start raping the game because their favorite anime theme's song is on it. _________________

You don't have to like anime to enjoy DDR. o_O
Most of anything anime is in the background animation and a handful of song bg-banners. Since arrows are all over the place, most people hardly pay attention to backgrounds anyway, and the bg-banners do little to compensate.
As far as Anime Songs in DDR, I don't like most of the music as it is, and the whole invasion of Anime freaks thing wouldn't really excite me either. _________________

Aw, everyone forgets "Odoru Ponporin" (or however the hell it is romanized) is an anime song (It's a remix of the theme to "Chibi Maruko-chan")
Personally, I didn't mind that some anime songs were in DDR, but I wouldn't want loads more.
In furtherance of a previous comment, although "arrow smaching" certainly isn't part of the culture, video games certainly are (easily seen by the 30/40 year old salarymen spending hours upon hours perfecting their techniques at VF4:Final Tuned). |

Personally I would really HATE it if anime songs were in DDR. I loathe anime because I am surrounded by anime nerds that talk about it nonstop. Here's an excerpt from a chat I had with one who is obviously way too far gone:
"Me: So tell me, why do you obsess about anime?
Her: I love it.
Me: Alright that's understandable, but why do you think all the guys are hot? Why don't you just find REAL guys? The guys in anime are animated... they aren't real.
Her: You don't know it isn't real..."
Maybe that was just me venting my frustration but my opinion still stands. _________________

| I would like to see at least some more J-pop in the PS2 games. The arcade machines have a nice selection. I would like to see more Anime related songs, but not at the cost of the remixes and such. -shrug- |

No, I mean how come no one has mentioned the theme from Lupin the 3rd? It was in 5th Mix (btw, I'm stating this as a fan of 5th mix, not a fan of anime, because I don't really like anime). |

True. Both are big parts of Japan's culture. |
First off, like others said, you don't have to like anime to like DDR, and I don't. I used to (and I still have my to favorite anime movies, Ninja Scroll and Akira, on dvd) but now I don't. Second, DDR is no longer a big part of japanese culture. It used to be big, but nobody over there plays it anymore. _________________

And you would know this how? Do you live in Japan?
I wouldn't say big part of the culture, but definately a big part of the video game scene, much like it is here.
As far as the original question goes, it wouldn't hurt anything. More music in general adds variety. I could give a damn where it came from. _________________

Personally I wouldn't mind a few anime songs in DDR. But not too many, maybe like a total of 5 or 6 on one mix. And it would depend on the song really cause just because it's from anime doesn't mean it's 100% good.
And was Door of Magic from an anime? Cause it's the "Theme of Space Mako". I don't know too many animes so I don't know if it is or not. |

It's not like anyone but the otakus are gonna notice if a song from an anime is in ddr. I mean, anime songs are in japanese, most ddr songs are in japanese. If you don't like anime, then how the hell are you gonna tell it apart from a regular j-pop song to on e that was in an anime. You won't even notice it so all it would do is increase the amount of songs that are on the ddr roster and that is nothing but good. And on an unrelated note, I am currently watching a poorly dubbed porno on playboy. Geeze this channels gone downhill. Thats just me venting. _________________

It depends on if the song has a good beat songs from like, Gundam...or InuYasha, would be good...some of the songs from Cowboy bebop would be good (mainly the fast ones, Tank!, Bad dog no buscuit, ect) could work with good steps...but songs like Cruel Angel Thesis would *not* work...I would like to see more anime songs in DDR, and I don't care how many...as long as it has a good beat and good steps...
Question: is Pink Rose from an anime? (Gundam mebbe?) |

Odoru Ponpokurin is the literal romanization altho i see it spelt as Pompokulin some places O_o which is weird but i can't remember what it means so i can't comment Damn i wish there were a 5th mix anyway near where i am.
Wow do people here not like anime otaku....or i guess they are just more otaku where you come from Personally i like the mix of anime songs that have been put in DDR. I think Freckles is great and I've loved Odoru Ponpokurin ever since we sang it in highschool Japanese class (where half the class enjoyed replacing certain phonetically simillar sounding lyrics with "Please shutup" ). I don't think DDR pumped full of anime themes would be a good thing... i like the balance that is there at the moment. But i hardly think that if DDR did evole into having a large anime based soundtrack that tons of otaku would jump at it to play....Mostly all of the people that i play with at uni are into anime to some extent but far from 'otaku'. Besides of the 'otaku' i do know.... i couldn't ever see them being the type to DDR they won't let me get them near the machine _________________

Wrong. If it was a really popular song that was recognized because it was from a certain anime, I wouldn't doubt that the banner and background of the song would contain pictures of a related character from that anime. That, and anime otaku will more than likely learn everything, so they would be able to recognize the title in the songlist, causing much unneeded fangirl/boyish screaming. _________________

Why do you give a poopy? why Discriminate against the otaku?. in my opinion, anyone who wants to play, should be able to and keeping songs out in order to discriminate is very wrong.
though their sweating + their usual stench, could be a little dangerous... |
