Making a stepmania cab?

how would you go about making a stepmania cab from like lets say a old max/max2 machine? is it hard? i have a huge basement and am intrested in buying a old machine and making a stepmania cab.

few questions maybe someone can answer.

it's possible to get the pads to light up right?

is there a way i can get the pad's to work like the upgrade cabs pads? those are awsome.

4 buttons work on each pad for quads right?

how much would it cost for equipment to make it a stepmania cab?
