My brother just gave me a modded ps2, well I went game crazy and got guitar freaks. I was wondering if it's possible to use one of the guitar controllers that's available here, or if I have to order one. I really want to play with my cousin on christmas >< _________________

I'm not 100% sure, all I do know is you're gonna have to swap between controller and guitar when selecting songs and stuff, because of the way the guitar's wired.
I believe it holds down one of the directional arrows and GH looks for that to know it's a GH guitar and not a dualshock, also I *think* that the more recent releases (GF/dm Masterpiece Silver and Gold, V2 and V3) have a button config, so theoretically you should be able to modify the buttons so you can use the GH guitar. _________________

The GH controller will not work with GF from what I heard. So, You're pretty much have to switch controllers if you're going to play both. _________________

GH controller WILL work, but since it holds Left down to confirm it on the GH game, so you have to switch controllers. I know it works for Masterpiece Gold & V-V3. Not sure about MP Silver.
From rmz's FAQs:
Quote: | For those of you who have copies of Guitar Hero lying
around your house and don't wish to import (with potentially
expensive shipping) a Konami GuitarFreaks controller,
there's finally a solution!
Now that it's possible to remap individual buttons to
whatever function you want them to be for GuitarFreaks,
you can even set up the button mapping to work correctly
with a Guitar Hero controller! Go into the Options menu
and set the following control scheme:
Button Function
--------------------------------
O Red
Triangle Green
X Blue
D-Pad Up Picking
D-Pad Down Picking
L2 Wailing
The above setup will allow you to use the middle three
buttons on the Guitar Hero controller as well as the
pick -- all just like a normal GuitarFreaks controller.
(I chose the middle three buttons because the "keyed"
button is most comfortable as the middle button rather
than an end button, at least to me.)
One thing that you should be aware of is the fact that
Guitar Hero controllers always hold down Left on the D-Pad
so the Guitar Hero game can identify the controller, but
that obviously causes problems with this game because it
will cause the songlist to constantly scroll in one
direction, forcing you to unplug the controller for song
selection and re-plug the Guitar Hero controller to play
the actual song. |
Holy Fukk, this is my 5,000th post. |
