Neither. If I try to showoff, people don't pay attention. If I try to do better than someone, I end up doing worse.

If there's a lot of people, showoff. Otherwise, I play mainly for the fun of it, though I'm not sure if I can say that now that I'm trying to improve my arcade PA.

I'm just there to improve my FA and try to stanmina. I've never really been into that showdown nonsense unless i'm in a tourney. At my level you can only just try to to get better. Leave all that other stuff for the kids to do.

That is me.

I swear, I'll be thirtysomething and still be playing DDR just because it's so damn fun.
The player community around me has little effect on my enjoyment of the game. I remember one time no one would go to the mall I went to to play DDR (closest one to me) because the EX pads were lackluster and it cost a dollar to play. I ended up the only regular I knew that played there after awhile, ignoring the pad misses and focusing on the Perfects and stamina-building. Hell, it was then that I got a lot better, and it was from playing alone on sh*tty pads.

I've never been the showoff type. I'll admit, if a lot of people are around, I'll pick some choice songs that'll rile them up, but even then, I make sure the flashy song I choose also falls in line to whatever type of practicing I'm trying to do for the day, or if I just wanted to play it anyway.

...and I'm very much less the showdown type. "I challenge you to DDR!"? Oh please, it really shouldn't be that serious! I never do that crap and people in my area still like to rumor about my "skills".

Just play to have fun. That's all I'm in it for.

Only 30something? I hope I'm still dancing when I'm 80something, like Mr. Six!

Yah, I know he's not really that old, but still...

I was so disillusioned when I found out he's not really an old man

I'm not really the showdown type either. I'm not super cereal about getting AAA's on every song and challenging people. If I play DDR with someone, it's not to challenge them. It's to have fun. I'm more of the showoff type, but the only time I pulled it off was earlier tonight.

I can't really compete with the best players in my region, so I just like to play alone and maybe I'll look a lot better then I would losing to someone better than me.

I just play for fun and to raise my scores. Since the arcade I play at is also a bowling alley, I get lots of curious visitors. Depending on how busy it is, there can be crowds of like... 30 people crammed in the little game room watching us play keyboard charts. It also makes the temperature in the room jump about 15 degrees disturb.gif
