(Note: I didn't know whether to place it here, the Simulaters area, or the arcade section. Sorry)
I want to start building a stepmania machine to the same specs as an ITG machine in the basic design. Basically, I already have a computer, im going to upgrade the onld 2 gb harddrive, and im getting a moniter from my teacher Mr. Goslin, who just bought a new 19 inch ICD, and needs to get rid of his used but otherwise perfect condition CRT. Ill be using that.
I do have some questions...
Where can I find the sizes
What speakers should I use...
And if I find the speakers are too expensive (im just a 13 year old with allot of building experience), how can i make some fake ones that look convincing (i can make them vibrate lol). I can just use the uber-powerful speakers my sister has that she doesn't even use lol. |

ehh wait, like a real arcade machine?
Why not just hook up a computer's output to AV > TV
and just play on the TV.... |

or wait til i get my how to build a ddr machine :-p
anyway, my pad section is up, but the cab isnt.
its really not that bad to build (i just kinda made it as i went, with no real design in mind)
i have a 27" TV in mine connected to a TV out on an old comp, cheap $30 5.1 ch surround sound speakers, and other various stuff
all i can say is to invest in some good speakers, definately a good subwoofer, because mine isnt all that great, but its fine for only $30
all in all, look to spend at least $100 on wood, speakers, etc, (non-computer stuff)
anyway, check out my site and you can see a basic pic of my cabinet at www.ddr.animearchivez.com _________________

I think we'll be seeing a lot of good cab tutorials this summer (mine, slvrshdw's, and a couple others). I'd suggest to wait for those. _________________

as a second monitor, sure: as long as you have a good graphics card that will support it
i have a 256 MB PCI card (as i said, its a crap comp, but a pretty good card tho ;-))
anyway, it takes a little while to configure the dual monitors if you arent familiar with it. (especially if the second "monitor" is a TV)
but yea, if you can play on a small tv/monitor, the 14" one will work, but i like the bigger tvs and such... _________________
