In that case, you're probably just not that good with relatively complex rhythms. All of Xenon's notes are right where they should be.

Probably true, but sometimes it seems offbeat to me.

As I said, it's a small factor. They probably thought about that, but also considered other things before grouping it Vertex and HotN.

If you have Ultramix 2 or Stepmania, play Fly Through the Night, which is sort of a predecessor to Xenon. It has some weird rhythms, but it's relatively easy.

Alright,

Xepher = middle 10 (So Deep style)

Sakura = 8 (Hell, Across the Nightmare Challenge is harder that this!)

Bag = 10 (at 1x of course)

Paranoia = 6 (Mkay, theres no way in hell that this is still a 8)

Drop the Bomb = 7 (Have you ever seen a 6 footer with multiple crossovers, irregular steps, a 16th stream, and step jumps?)

They're not 16th notes. They're 8th note triplets. Or, in DDR terms, "12th" notes.

WTF? It should at least be a 9. It seems quite a bit harder than Tsugaru (Apple Mix).

Again, WTF? Crossovers and jacks at 180 BPM don't constitute an 8?

Revision riiight.gif

Sakura = 9

Paranoia = 7 (still not an 8 though, most of the crossovers come at you one at a time. ex. da-da-da da-da-da da-da-da and the jackhammers are pretty simple. I also just cant see this being as hard as some other 8 footers like Seduction and Heaven is a 57' Metalic gray)

There are some 8's that are much slower and have few crossovers (Groove, for example). Paranoia is definitely a mid to high 8.

Yeah, I think so too. I was actually poking fun at the thread title's vagueness, as is looks more like it's asking whether or not the song itself was real, rather than a stepchart's credibility.
Though I understand sarcasm can come unnoticed. =/

Some of the arrows are 'offbeat'. That is the point, they go with the syncopated music perfectly.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).
Also, HVAM has 503 steps, but I wouldn't rate it a 10 at all, so the idea that 500+ steps = 10 is a pretty ineffective way to judge songs.

I'd say anything with over 650 steps is definitely a 10, and anything over 550 is likely to be a 10. Stuff over 450 is in candidacy, and anything under 450 is unlikely to be deserving of a 10.

There's my view of the issue. I didn't read the topic much, so any or all of those bases could have been covered previously for all I know.

Ah Ah, don't forget long mixes E10.gif. I say that you can't really judge 10s by amount of steps. Give a short enough song and a screwed up enough rhythm, a good stepartist could make a 10 in 250 steps. Heck, with a really irregular rhythm, you don't need that short a song, I wouldn't think.
That was my entire point. A comment had been made that 'it has 530 steps, it's a 10', and that's what I was responding to.
They're not 16th notes. They're 8th note triplets. Or, in DDR terms, "12th" notes.
On Drop the Bomb? I'm pretty sure that doesn't have any 12th's (quaver triplets if you want to be musically accurate), but then again I haven't played that song much. I know the remix does have a 16th note beat smattered at the end, but it's still an easy-as-hell 7. Regardless, Drop the Bomb is an easy 6. The remix is a mid-6 as far as I'm concerned.

I'm surprised nobody's brought up The Shining Polaris yet. I cleared it on Heavy before I cleared Max 300 on Light. I also AAA'ed it on light and standard before I cleared Max 300 on Standard. I think it stole some numbers from Outer Limits (IIDX) if you ask me. That songs rated about 2 points short of what it should be at every difficulty. Shining Polaris is 3/6/7, right? It should be 2/4/5.

EDIT: Xepher is a MIDI song. MIDI = synthesised = synthetic = fake. THREAD SOLVED.

Sakura is easy for a 10, yes, but it's ridiculous to say it should be an 8. There's no way the 2nd half of the song can justify an 8 rating if HVAM is a 9.
Same goes with your PARANOiA idea. Too many notes going on at a constant pace to make it seem so easy that it should be a 6.

I'll agree with Drop the Bomb, though. That song is pretty intense for a 6.

Agreed. The BPM changes are crazy and I still get them messed up sometimes. That's why it's a ten.

The very end has a small stream of 12ths. It goes with the music.

BTW, nobody calls them quaver triplets in America. E13.gif

The BPM changes aren't that difficult. If Akumajo Dracula Medley is an 8, Sakura is a 9.
