Cool. Just so you know, it might take some getting used to. My sister and I thought our CFs sucked when we first got them, but loved them after playing on them for about 20 minutes. But I suppose that might have been because those were our first metal pads.
Also, you'll probably need to debow your panels when you get it. Just don't loosen them too much - if you can move the panels slightly back and forth by pushing on them, they're too loose.
As for the arcade mod...it makes a huge difference. Playing on an unmodded CF is actually a bit easier since you really don't have to lift your feet at all. However, it's completely flat. You have to look down occasionally to make sure you're not stepping in the wrong place. An arcade-modded CF is much more arcade-like than an unmodded CF.
I have clear arcade mods on both of my CFs, but I kind of wish I had gotten the black and textured mods. Apparently there is less friction on the black mod, which makes it easier to slide your feet over the center panel. But note that lately, the company has been sending black-modded pads with four black corners and a clear center panel (presumably to show off their logo). If you get one of those, I would suggest emailing them and asking them to send you another black panel.

Don't Bluesharks have metal bases covered with some kind of grip? If so, it goes without saying that they aren't going to crack. |
Bluesharks, from what I hear, are pretty heavy. This means that putting one on an uneven surface would be a bad idea.

Mymybox uses their sensors, not real arcade sensors, so there's really no telling how good/bad they are.

They probably would.
Edit: Oh, and that was ITG PS2. _________________

Well you guys have been quite helpful. Thanks for hashing this out on here, definitely made me much more knowledgable on all this stuff.
When I ordered it from them I requested a 5th black panel, we'll see whether they give it to me or not. I'm probably going to end up getting a replacement set of panels anyways so I'll be able to take off the mod if it's killing me but i'll try to get used to it.
I definitely understand what you guys are talking about in terms of the getting used to or breaking in period of any pad with recessed buttons whatsoever. It was bad for me about 6 months ago because I basically learned how to play in my house on a tx-2000 and when I tried to translate it to the arcade it was horrible. The brackets were killing me and I was doing horrible. It's just something that you eventually adapt too (aside from a 1 foot recessed arrow).
Debowing the panels eh? I've read everyone talking about that because i've been reading all the flux posts and topics in the forums. I haven't checked out that link yet bob (i'm about to after I write this) but my understanding is that you unscrew the screws to let the panel unbend and then you just tighten them until they are flush with the bracket? Is this to say that they come shipped tighter than being flush? Just something i've gotten confused on.
Yea I went black and textured cause I read everyones posts on how it gives a little less friction, and to me I like the look better.
Now I need to get to work on getting these ITG2 arrows for my pad. Got to find a place where I can print something that size along with a place to get them laminated. I know its off topic but do you end up putting the screws through the laminated arrow? I really have to go searching for some pics of these taken apart so I can understand what i'm even referring to.
Thanks again guys. |

Yeah, they aren't very careful about that. From what I've heard, almost all CFs are shipped with the panels screwed on a little too tightly.

Yes, the screws go right through the corners of the decals. It ends up being a good thing because it keeps them from sliding around.
Just wondering, did you get type 1 or type 2 brackets? _________________

Oh yeah, one more thing.
Since the black and textured mod kit comes installed on the Cobalt Flux you don't get the lexen panels for the corner panels unless you email them after you received your pad. I had to go through all that bullshit in order to take my kit off.
AA Bob>>>What's the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 brackets? When I ordered my mod kit, I never had to option of choosing which one.
My CF also came with really tight panels. I had never heard of debowing so I was playing on these arch shaped panels for about two weeks. |

Really? Maybe they don't do it anymore. Type 2 brackets look like this:
Seems like everybody has those now. Type 1 brackets are these weird square things that don't look as good and don't look like they work as well. You used to be able to choose between them; maybe they axed type 1 because nobody liked it.
Edit: Yep, they got rid of it. I just checked.
Edit: Here's a pic comparing the two:

That's bad for the screw holes. _________________

From what I've heard, your flux doesn't sound defective; mine does the same thing when I bracket rape with my arcade mod on. I think maybe it depends on the way you step on the arrows. *shrugs* _________________

If the new one is the same I'll know that it's all Cobalt Fluxes. I may get Dancing Tofu's 280 pound DT500 though.
EDIT: Oh my god the Type 1 brackets really look awful. O.o |

I'm sorry you made such a horrible decision... j/k. I just like the Shark more than the Coby
Yes, I just called the Cobalt Flux "The Coby" _________________
