Hey, somethin pretty weird happened while i was playin with my sister today. We got the home version of DDR and we were playin the song "Tsugaru" on the japanese version of DDR MAX 2, when we got done with it, we got this (as usual ):

The fact that we both did almost the same mistakes is kinda weird but what caught our attention was that even thou we did the same number of perfects, greats, goods, oks and boos, only one thing differs, i got 7 misses and she got 6 [that gave me a C and a B for her]... which means i had one more step than her in my song? the hell? We did the maths, she got 239 steps and i got 240. We did the song one more time, and we got this :

Both 240 notes :x

So err... any possible explanation? :x

Thanks for bothering E1.gif

Hmm, that's weird. I don't know what to tell you. blink.gif

Guess we can chalk it up to the fact that Tsugaru standard is a mythical song.

My only guess is that it has something to do with jumps (I'm not even sure if Tsugaru standard has those though...).

Yeah, Tsugaru (Standard) has 31 jumps.

Since they both had the exact same steps, I don't think that would make a difference, unless someone screwed up and made a missed jump count as 2 misses instead of one. But I've never heard of that.

EDIT: Hmm, looking at this really closely, this might have been photoshopped. I'm certainly not saying it definitely is, but it's a possibility. Look at the 6 in the "miss" thing in the first picture compared to the "miss" thing in the second one. The trail off to the right of them looks exactly the same, as does the slight discoloration of the dark grey background to the right of the 6. Again, I'm just throwing it out there; not really accusing anyone.

Okay, I'm pretty sure I figured it out.

Looking at that pic reminded me of this thread about Max 2's scoring system - specifically, this:

AA Bob wrote:
If you step on a freeze but then let it go, you will get a Perfect/Great/whatever for the step and nothing for the N.G. But if you miss a freeze completely, it will count as two boos.

I noticed that you both have 7 OKs. So I figured that the right player must have simply broken a freeze halfway through holding it, while the left player must have missed a freeze step entirely. This would explain the extra miss on the left side.

I checked the chart and sure enough, Tsugaru Standard has 8 freeze arrows. So I'm pretty sure I'm right.

It's Tsugaru Standard, it can do whatever the hell it wants.

Don't question it.

Tsugaru (Standard) has 3 jumps that are also freezes but if you count them as one you are correct.

Yeah, it treats all freezes the same:

Missing a jump-freeze only gives you two boos.
