Ahem. I too suffer from horrible sweating problems and I've lost major weight since I started playing DDR four years back, so don't count on weight loss to end your sweating problem (and I am 6'-7" @ 260 lbs, so I can relate to you). That being said, here're some very effective ways of DEALING with it.

1st - I wear a headband.... (or a sweatband if you prefer), an actual bandanda tied rambo style is what I use. It's not nearly as lame as you think. It helps keeps the sweat out of my eyes and actually it seems to reduce my body's tendancy to sweat overall.

2nd - Wear shorts if you can. Wearing shorts reduces my internal body temperature by a LOT. Granted, when it gets too cold to wear shorts to the arcade, you gotta put on the jeans, but until then, I stick with the shorts.

3rd - If your arcade is cool with it, try putting a fan near the machine. Having a fan continuously blowing a gentle breeze on you while you play will help reduce your body heat and will also make use of that sweat (i.e. it'll evaporate like it's supposed to, cooling your body down).

4th - I just started this a year back and it is GREAT. I bought some workout T-shirts made of polyester. Polyester doesn't absorb water, and the shirts are breathable, allowing sweat to evaporate and not cling to your shirt, This prevents you from looking like a soggy sponge of a man (that's right, no more wet, soggy t-shirts). Plus, these shirts aren't "weird looking". I honestly think they look pretty close if not exactly like a regular T-shirt.

Here's a link to an example of the polyester workout shirt I was talking about. I went to my local ShopKo (kinda like a Target) and got some there for $12 each. I suggest you try checking there before you spend a fortune online.

These techniques have helped me play in comfort, I hope that they can help you out too!

o boy, then you can smell like poopy and sweat!!

Maybe AXE smells bad to you, but many think it smells good, including me. Oh, and just for the record, I'm not one of the people who spray on a whole can. Just a small spray works fine.

My arcade has a fan by the machine, which is good because I can be sweaty after just one or two hard songs.

Sweat is not an issue unless you allow it to be one. If you don't want to sweat, try playing songs that don't require a lot of stamina or keep your body COOL. Or do both. You just might anyway and the best relief is a shower.

I sweat rather badly too.. Sometimes my sweat drips onto the pad (arcade player here) and causes me to slip.. so in between songs i wipe my shoes and the pad off....

This is what i do, and actually it does help a lot. I have a lot of hair (it's naturally curly and gets frizzy when i sweat which can also get in the way of my game). I used to wear just a ponytail. I tried a bandana one time just because i found it in a closet and it helps me stay much cooler!!

Also, bring a personal fan w/ a water myster (sp?) Spray urself in b/n rounds and in b/n games and u can also have water fights w/ ur friends (i had a number of them actually lawl). A towel is also a good idea to wipe your face every now and then.

sorry for all the abbreviations xD. I'm having a rough day ;-(
