What happens when you play ITG step files in Stepmania? I've played a few and I don't notice anything different. Am I missing anything? I use Stepmania 3.9. Thanks in advance for being kind with your answers.

What would you expect to be different?

What happens is that you are playing an ITG simfile on stepmania. You answered your own question.

Depends on where you downloaded it from. Some ITG simfiles from certain websites are either not complete (missing difficulties), or they are missing mines/hands. It all comes down to where you downloaded it from.

The only problem with using 3.9 final is that the rolls freeze stepmania (basically, stepmania 3.9 lacks the support for rolls).

Did I answer your question? (The reason I ask is because it is hard to infer what you are trying to say from your first post).

Having only played DDR in the arcade (and no other dance games), I'm only familiar with DDR/Stepmania. I own no console games. Hence my lack of experience with ITG. So yeah, it was just a basic question and I think you answered it. It sounds like I'm in good shape. I don't know what a roll is. nerd.gif

I've added these Bemanistyle ITG contest entries to my song list and I play them regularly, so I guess these are my only contact with ITG.

A roll is pretty much a hold, except you have to keep on hitting it to keep it going.

Stepmania shouldn't freeze, it should just exit out completely without warning. In 3.9 though, the end of a roll will appear as a step/jump that, if you try to hit it, will not register but will also not count as a Miss or affect your combo. You can remove these from the DWI/SM file (via Notepad, the SM editor will crash if you try to change roll ends), but only if you know what you're doing. Otherwise, you can just download 3.95 CVS or hit them as normal steps.

or 4.0 CVS, but then your noteskins won't work. the themes from 3.9 won't work on either, but there's an amazing ITG2 theme for 3.95 (and nothing good for 4.0 yet).

You're missing the ITG2 theme/noteskins/courses/etc., you probably though by playing itg sims that all of a sudden everything would look like itg, not true. ITG Theme and noteskins can be found at www.stepmaniathings.com
(I think that's the link) Hope taht helped E1.gif
