It's an option that can be turned on that allows you to do Versus or Double without having to pay for both sides. In other words, you pay the amount for one round and can have a second player join in for free.

But most places don't use it because they don't want people getting versus for the price of single. That's why ITG has a thing called Doubles Premium. You get double for the price of single, but not versus. It's genius, just like everything else about ITG. |

| Hey guys, did you completely skip over the post where the OP said that he only sees it on videos of people doing hard songs? It's probably because the other person who WAS playing didn't want to embarass themselves on video, or because the person who is playing didn't want to be distracted by someone of inferior ability. |
