Alright guys, I've recently become a competitive smash player, but my original game is DDR of course. MLG is the gaming league that hosts Halo and Smash tournaments around the U.S each year, giving out thousands of dollars to top finishers. However, they don't have MLG.

I was thinking that maybe if we could get enough people to show interest in DDR to MLG that we could convince them to add the game to the circuit. this would include thousands of dollars for winners at each monthly stop, as well as "pro" rankings for players.

This would be great for the DDR community, it's just sad that no one has invested enough money into it to make it like Halo and smash are for MLG. However, SuperNova has just recently come out. If we get enough people to show interest (I.E travelling to pro circuit stops, etc.) that they may find it to be worth their time to include DDR.

What do you guys think?

This actually sounds like a really good idea but the only downside is that there
would only be one top ddr player in each area so its not exatly a way for a
national champ but a great idea overall

National tournaments are cool. Why not. I like competing and getting my butt whooped. (The curse of the SDG vs. AAA matches that happen to me.)

Yes they do, but this is DDR. I don't believe there is a DDR nationals, though I suspect it would nothing but AAA's and lame tiebreakers during the final matches.

itg and piu make for better competitive games. i suppose mlg could do ddr freestyle tournaments, but you could expect the attendance to be fairly low >_>.

mlg has certainly helped smash, especially in giving smash competitive legitimacy vis-à-vis other fighters. a potential relationship between mlg and ddr would be hairier, though. i'd have to think longer about it before i come to a conclusion (ddr freestyling at mlg would be pretty sweet, though!).

There would be plenty of players at a National. I would go, even though I would easily lose. It would be nice to have tournament of DDR for people who don't like the mediocre 7s-8s-9s-10s-11s-12s-13s that ITG steps. With the exception of a few 7s, 8s, 10s, and a couple 12s, I don't like ITGs steps at ALL. or the music.

PIU is a good game, but I don't know all too many people besides me who play and are good.

I'd support making a DDR national tournament.

If people who were actually good showed up it would just come down to who has a worse pad.

Maybe something like this would convince Konami to make harder steps and bring back the $2000 ASC E4.gif
