|
|
Hey all,
Does anyone know how to configure Stepmania so that the difficulty level (i.e. Step judging, life draining, etc) is the same as for a standard arcade machine?
Currently I have "Judge" and "Life" settings set to '4' , but that seems a bit too easy.
Thanks! |

Supposedly if you bump it up to 5, its more realistic. Editing your Stepmania.ini file and dumping these timing window specs into your program produces more suitable results, IMO.

These are the standard timings for a DDR Extreme AC. Now if youre looking for ITG timings....

Now you have both.
(And if you do use these timing windows, remember to leave both life and judge settings a 4) _________________

stepmanias judge is around 5.7 for ddr arcade so just use 6, it will help your timing anyways and its not that much harder _________________

to be honest, when i used 5, it still seemed even bigger than home window. never tried 6 though. best way to go imo is just download or edit the .ini file. I did that and I use the ITG timing windows now. _________________

I haven't tried the ITG ones yet, but the Extreme AC ones seem a LOT harder on SM (when played on pad) than at the arcade =/
I'd try messing around with the numbers until you get something that more closely matches the arcade.
btw, I have a Cobalt Flux with a Trio Linker plus adapter, so Im pretty sure neither my pad nor my adapter is the problem. |

^ Odd. I have a CF along with a "certified" workable EMS adapter, and had to set my global offset to -0.052 to get a correct read before messing with the judge settings. And even if it is a tiny bit harder than the Extreme AC, Id rather have it that way than it being easier. _________________

I've got those settings on 4, but what should I do with the progressive lifebar? It's currently set to '1'.
btw, I have stepmania set up on my xbox with two TX-1000 pads. what kind of setup do you guys have? |

Well, it depends. Are you going to be playing on event mode? If you are, then you wont need a progressive lifebar. The only time youll need the progressive lifebar is if youre going to play in sets. (aka - 3 stages per play) _________________

So i have the judging difficulty set at 4, and just copy the settings from the .ini file and it will be more arcade like?
Because I always AAA songs on stepmania when I have it on 4 but when I played at the arcade I got like 24 greats on a song i normally AAA.
I want it so it's either the same as the arcade, or harder, so I can be even better at the arcade (assuming the pads are in good condition). _________________

I tried those settings for stepmania- it doesn't really seem arcade difficulty like. :/ _________________
