No I don't need you to pay for it...

I have 3 little boys under 8, and I think DDR is the perfect way to keep them occupied. I could stand to loose a bit of weight myself, ahem.

So we have a mid-sized TV, and a good sized living room. I think I have an original Playstation somewhere, but I might need a new one. Beyond that, i got nothing!

So here's the question: What do you recommend I buy? Money is an object, but I could go $150 without any stress. $200 is pushing it, $250 breaks the bank. I want pads that are good, and will stand up to the kids for a while.

Used equipment is fine with me, and I don't mind looking for a bit for good deals. Tell me what to buy!

Thanks!

If you're just starting out, I'd suggest buying a few $20 soft pads to make sure that the kids, and yourself, will actually get into it. If you guys are just starting out a soft pad should last you a few months anyway, plus you don't have to make a $100/pad investment for something that may not work out.

If you're going to stick to your original PS, you can find a copy of Konamix pretty much anywhere (Ebay) for about $15. So, $20x2 for pads, $15 for game. That's $55, less than you wanted to spend, and a pretty good start to DDR.

Heres your new shopping list:

1. PlayStation 2
2. DDRMAX, DDRMAX 2, or DDR Extreme. Do NOT get DDR Extreme 2. I reccomend MAX 2 or Extreme since they're young.
3. Get a soft pad or two. They don't cost much. If you like DDR and realize its something you wanna get into, wait a month or two and replace them with two foam pads. Soft pads wear out after a while, foam ones are good. They have a foam insert, and when the foam is in there, its hard and much more like the arcade pads.

There you go. I hope I was able to help out. Since they're so young they most likley won't do very good, but keep encouraging them. If they start now they could be REALLY REALLY good when they're 12. I'm 12 and I've only been playing a year and a half. I can already to level 9 songs in Heavy. Just imagine how good they could be. IMAGINE.

What's wrong with Extreme 2? (Aside from the unlock system, which just takes a while.)

So um, is it bad that awhile ago I was watching Family Guy, and when Quagmire came on, I thought something to the effect of "Whoa, It's AA Bob!" (I don't remember if the exact thought was "It's AA Bob" or "It's AA Bob's avatar", but I don't think it matters in this case)?
