FAQ or manual for StepMania's built-in step editor?

Hello everyone,

I have been posting over in the Dancing Monkey's thread and many people recommend using StepMania's step editor once DM has found the BPM. I have poked around the editor for some time and am still having trouble making heads or tails of it. I have looked through the documentation and have not found much in reference to the step editor. The task I would like to do is have the song play and be able to just tap out the steps inside the editor. It sounds as if this is possible, I just can't figure out how to do it!

What exactly are you stumped on? The help screen should be able to help you (by pressing F1 in the editor)

I was stumped on how to select all the beats so that when I hit ctrl-R to record, it would play the whole song. Now that I can do that, I should be able to figure the rest out. Now, just to play around with freeze arrows and 16th beats.
