This looks awesome! I am an eigth grader and I use my TI 83 plus all the time in algebra. It will be nice to be able to play ddr during school.

Edit: But without sound it might be weird to have song names. You should just develop your own step patterns at certain tempos and give them names such as "song1" and such.

make e-motion, then give me the code for it please.

Any code I could make for songs would be a bunch of numbers and letters in Hexadeciamal dude. It would be useless data until I finish the program itself.

I might come up with some random steps to some non-exitstant song, but I still want to throw some good DDR origionals.

Ok people, I need to come up with a song list to continue programming. I have set the limit to 8 songs. It isn't much, but new vesions means new songs. So this is what I am thinking:

From request:

MaxX Unlimited
EDIT: End of the Century
Cow Girl
EDIT: Kick the Can

What I think:

Max 300
So Deep
Matsuri Japan
Silent Hill

PROPOSED:

Rhythm and Police

Sweet! Now I have 8 songs. If you don't approve this song list, just let me know. I can change it in a snap. If you have a suggestion, tell me a song to remove to keep the song list 8 songs long.

I like the cut of your jib garysurvivor. I'll finally have something to do in Calc class, other than hitting the arrow buttons on my Ti-83+ while pretending i'm playing DDR...no seriously that's what I do most of the time.

Hmm...Possible...
I could also create an edit program. Wouldn't that be nifty? E15.gif
I also like the idea of including End of the Century, so now on, if you have a request, chose a song that must be removed from the list. I can only have 8 songs.
Well, actually there is no limit, but having it 8 makes the programming easier for me.

Ok, I guess this will be the official song list. It is updated a couple posts up there somewhere. And I have a new picture for you guys:

Nice lame groove radar huh?
EDIT NOTE: I can't seem to fit end of the cenutry in the menu. The title of the song is too big. I'll try to find a way...

You could make it say EOTC. If you kill it being all caps you could just capitalize each word and take out the spaces. That may work.

The groove radar is kind of disturbing, but other than that it looks good. As Topher said you could abbreviate End of the Century as EOTC.

Yeah I know...What should I do with it then?

I have tried many different ways to fit in End of the Century, but the only thing that makes sense is what I have now or the EOTC idea. I'm confident that the animations during the sond selection will be cool though!

Hmmm... You could take it out altogether and just put a little foot meter or something, a la old school mixes.

Maybe put a letter on each arm of the radar. One for each, V for Voltage, S for Stream, C for Chaos, F for Freeze, A for Air.

Ya know, that gaint 5 under the word standard is supposed to be the foot rating, but I can still see room for improvement. I'm going to add those letters for clarity then.

I know the older models of this calculator could play sound by hooking headphones to the link. Rather than putting so much effort into providing an edit mode for a soundless DDR, perhaps look into putting in sound. I think the biggest barrier will be memory. It has been years since I used one of these things and my older version only had 128K E2.gif I'm sure today's calcs have like a GB or something I don't know. Not sure of the processing speed but I doubt they are fast enough to decode mp3 so you would mostlikely have to use .wav format. Perhaps a low-res encoding like 8bit mono at 8Khz. With this quality it will take 700K to encode a 90 second DDR tune. I guess I can see why those crappy all-in-wonder pads that hook to the TV use midi format. The PCM format used in .wav files is incredibly easy to work with - basically you just load the samples into the output register for the serial device periodically- there is no fancy math or decoding necessery. BTW dont ever let anyone borrow your TI - even if they say they will fail a test or flunk a class or whatever - tell them to get their own or yours will be gone frust.gif
