Apologies for the tardiness of this information (better late then never), but we have posted the songlist of the IIDX Happy Sky trial machine (to view it, click the comments link below). Special thanks to Orange Lounge Radio for the information.

On top of the amazing songlist quantity (350+), IIDX Happy Sky also will be the start of a new naming convention for Light 7 and 7 Key. Light 7 will now be called Normal, 7 Key will now be Hyper, while Another will stay the same.

The 9 (counting Flashing 8s different from regular 8) star/level difficulty is now being changed to a 12 level rating (and for those who are curious, the only 12 is currently V (Another). Thanks to MazriM TaiM for pointing out that there are more than just one 12. E1.gif

S-Random (think of "More Random than Random"), Hidden +, Sudden +, Hi-Speed 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, & 3.5 speed are just some of the new "mods" that you can select from. Hidden and Sudden + are customizable, meaning that you can make it disappear/appear later.

Aside from that, there's also Real-Time score comparison (as you play, there will be a number counter in red that will let you know how you're doing compared to the High Score).

Please click the comments link below to view the songlist.

The above post is true, there's more 12's that just V another, that's just all we knew about when the story was posted... we issued an update on the live program :X thanks for the mention though : D

I still think the inclusion of Toe Jam is a very interesting crossover. Wonder if it's going to be the start of a trend?

And does anyone here by any chance know what "Splash Beats" are?

This topic has a very comprehensive list of locations of IIDX and Beatmania machines in North America. You need to have an account at Bemanistyle to view it though.

Though, if you're looking for a IIDX12th, you're out of luck for now... the game isn't even officially out in Japan (the 'Location Test' only recently started) so it may be a while before the game crosses over here to american arcades.

Not really AI (Arcade Infinity) gets bemani pretty damn quickly so within the month of it's release it should be there as I will be there waiting for it. E13.gif

Well I know AI usually gets those games first, but I meant after the game is released in Japan, as I don't think any US arcades do location tests (obviously)

TGA (Tokyo Game Action) will probably get Happy Sky as soon as they can. They pre-ordered R.E.D. (11th Style) and it 'only' took about two and half months for it to arrive. But what a happy day that was! E1.gif

I kind of wish that the 12's weren't emphasized in the headline. Most people here don't play Beatmania (they probably play dancing games) and showing them the 12's is a bad introduction. Because it's not like DDR where the 8's are easier than 9's, and the 10's are harder than that. It's more like ITG where the 12's are 'impossible', and the 13's are only ranked higher because they're slightly more crazy - while also being impossible. In DDR you can master the 10's and get bored of the 9's. But in ITG the 12's will never be easy unless you're in the absolute top 0.05% percentile of the competitive players. And in Beatmania, anything 10+ requires your full concentration.

If you click MazriM TaiM's link, you'll see the doubles 12s. And those are merciless:
http://vjarmy.com/iidx/viewsong.php?songid=227&mode=A14 (Cheer Train 14A and the turntables of DOOM!)
http://vjarmy.com/iidx/viewsong.php?songid=258&mode=A14 (A 14A)
http://vjarmy.com/iidx/viewsong.php?songid=19&mode=A14 (G2 14A)
http://vjarmy.com/iidx/viewsong.php?songid=55&mode=A14 (Starmine A14)
http://vjarmy.com/iidx/viewsong.php?songid=306&mode=A14 (Sakura 14A)
You can't see it in any of those, but a little check mark next to your grade means that you cleared the song. blink.gif So if you're the achiever type of gamer then you'll have lots to keep yourself busy with.

I think the location test was in Yokohama(next to Tokyo) for that first week and then the next week they would have the location test in Osaka.

I don't think it should be THAT intimidating for newcomers to IIDX to see a few 12's in the list. Those songs are 1) found pretty much exclusively in the hardest difficulty level, ANOTHER, 2) Light 7 has been deservedly renamed as the new NORMAL standard for the notecharts, giving newer players a big ego boost, which is not really a bad thing, and 3) the 12's are few enough in number compared to the 350+ songs that will be available on this Style that there should be plenty to keep a newcomer busy. I'm still new to IIDX (I can now clear most anything 5 star and below on Light 7 and on 7-Key, plus I can clear some 6 stars on Light 7 now as well), but seeing the truly crazy stuff like V [a], Scorpion Fire [a], One More Lovely [a], A [a], Sakura [a], etc. doesn't intimidate me too much because, hey, those are just a few songs. Years ago when I was first getting good at DDR, I never though I could really pass the 10's, but I just let it slide because there were so few of them anyway. There were hundreds of other songs to enjoy with difficulty caps that didn't seem that unattainable. Then eventually, I was passing the 10's, and I figure that in time it will be the same with IIDX and its 12's. ITG is the only game so far that gave me a sort of "You're never going to be THIS good and are going to miss out on a lot" feeling, probably only because its proportion of insanely hard to nearly impossible for most human beings stepcharts in an overall smaller library of songs is much higher. )Can anyone acutally pass stuff like Pandemonium Expert without the bar?) Even so, I don't feel quite that put off by it now.

The only thing that I think scares newcomers initially is the insane difficulty hump in the beginning. It takes a LOT of practice to get the hang of the fingering at first. Hopefully this Style will include a bunch of 1 star songs for beginners, which should be no difficult feat considering it has a library of more than 350 songs. For that matter, does anyone remember anything being reported about a Beginner's mode for this new arcade version?

Whoa whoa whoa! You're talking about more than the 12s there. I was only trying to point out that the 12s aren't the end of the game. And even though Milty Kiss corrected himself in the next sentence, the phrase: "the only 12 is currently V (Another)" is still there in his post in bold print. I just didn't want a bunch of people to think that V [A] was the hardest 12. Because such a thing doesn't exist. I also wanted to head off the attitude of: "Who cares about The Safari? It's 'only' a 10! It's two whole levels easier than Colors (radio edit) another!" (eh heh sarc.gif har har har)

In DDR MAX2, nobody will ever pass Maxx Unlimited before So Deep. But in Beatmania this does happen. And frequently! So new players shouldn't look at the 12's and say "Man, that's out of reach. I haven't even cleared all the 9s yet." They could clear half of the 11s before they clear half of the 10s. It all depends on the player and which patterns of notes they're good at hitting.
