i find the most serious anti-mod anti-bar players suck regardless.

if someone trash talked me for using mods, i'd go AAA the song and say "there. 1x no bar. now shut the f*ck up!"

but since i can't AAA a heavy song, i'll have to settle for a AA.

I have a well set routine with mods...

1.5x speed and Solo
Unless the song is slower than 100 or faster than 125 BPM
I can play without solo (I have been playing since 5th mix)
But I choose not to... E4.gif

EDIT: I meant to say I change the speed mod If the song is faster than 225 BPM

I disagree. Speed mods increase performance for MOST DDR players, perhaps drastically for some, but not for 99% of them. There are several players who do better on x1 on almost every song (even bag for a few players), and there are many players who are essentially unaffected by the presence or absence of a speed mod.

As for me: I started playing on a 7th mix. The first song I ever speed modded was Witch Doctor standard. The second one was Sana morette ne ente standard. I started using speed mods regularly when I moved up to heavy, and there was a time when I was so dependent upon speed mods that I needed them just to pass The Least 100sec heavy. But then we got a 4th mix plus to go along with our Extreme, and so I had to learn to play on x1. Today, I play better with speed mods, but I can play without them if I have to.

My first ever heavy/maniac SDG was on x1 (the 7 jump on 4th plus).

it's not like you had to learn, you could have avoided the 4th+ altogether E10.gif but if that were the case for me, i'd lose out on joint premium when i go to downtown toronto frown.gif

see... civilized mod discussion. i knew it was possible E1.gif

I tend to shy away from mods. Play the game how its supposed to be played, right?
I WILL use a mod if I can't distinguish certain rythm patterns and need to double check what they are, then switch back to the regular mode with my newly acquired knowledge. I dunno if thats cheap, but I do it to be honest.
I have also used them when a song plays way to slow for my tastes. Gives it a bit more...zest. I once played a song with the x8 mod (I think that was it...) probably the most fun I ever had in a 5 footer...

i dont mind people who use mods...not a huge deal. i like x1 on most songs (minus bag...i can even do secret rendez-vous E1.gif) but that's just because i'm not a speed freak. personally, i enjoy dark and hate sudden, but no mods is usually the most fun i'll have
