Stepmania Online?

I have no intention of closing the source. What I am considering though is to work with the creators of stepmania (and beg them) to put the network stuff into the server. Then write a little program you start stepmania with, it connects to a server and tries to match you up with someone else or you can chose someone from an IP and then you can create a course of songs you both have, (it will automatically create the corse) and you and the other person play against eachother, when it's over you can compare scores and such.

This way if someone wants they can hack the code, but it won't matter how they play or if they autoplay or what.

Anyone like this idea?

That is a good idea. There should also be a chatroom if you make online play.

If you are feeling adventuresome, can you please go to the site and try to d/l a copy and see if it works for you?

Remember it's only a very basic online play, right now mostly designed for using computers togeather like so you can have 4 players playing DDR at once. If anyone else uses the system and does two computers simotaniously playing DDR and gets it to work, please take a pic, I'd love to post it on the site!
