I love freeze arrows. Especially in something like Exotic Ethnic doubles. They really force you to step to that song a lot differently then you would if they were turned off.

I suppose it depends on where you are cause' The arcade usually kills me with the long freeze arrows and the 8th notes at the same time (DAMN YOU N/A) But at home Freeze arrows can be my friend (Sandstorm is a good thing)
I do like the really long freeze in Burnin the Floor (Momo Mix) It feels really good to stick that. E1.gif
I also like the Ending to Tsugaru Standard with the slowly becoming awkward Freeze steps (Fun stuff there)

I like freeze arrows, personally. Especially those in V (For Extreme) Light. The freeze and two steps...it's the only thing I can really look like I'm performing to. Or, that looooong freeze at the beginning, there's potential in that for body movements in which you look like your dancing rather than hitting arrows...

Who can forget that Max 300 freeze? It's good grounds for interesting movement, or it can be the main reason you mess up on the transistion from 0 BPM to 300 on that first arrow.

Main point: Freezes rule.

Ok, if you wear the right shoes and keep ur balence so you can get an OK on the arrows, then they are very fun . . . especially for freestyling. Not only can you spin on one foot without lifting it to hit other arrows, but at the end of a song, ive seen numerous people do handplants to hit final freezes.

Another note, on the max songs, the freeze arrows allow you to get a breath while showing you the slowing of the song so you can count the 3 seconds before the music starts again . . . this is necessicary if you dont want to fall over happy.gif

I personally love freeze arrows. They were never a problem for me when I started Max2, and I consider them easier parts of songs. Also, my favorite step patterns have freeze arrows in them. (Vanity Angel, and the whole freeze arrow part of Maxx Unlimited.)

So yeah, freeze arrows are cool. (oh wow, bad pun. >.<)

I started on Extreme when it first came out, and I just always have had freeze arrows. Anyone who turns them off just for the sake of passing, can't really pass the song in my opinion. If they're just learning the steps, fine, but you still can't pass it unless you have freeze arrows on. E15.gif

Perfect example, I just passed maxx unlimited. I never had to turn the freeze arrows off, cause that would make it much too easy. Same with Ghosts. It's like an 8 because of the freezes being in positions that try to screw you over. If you took them off, the song would be more like a 6.

Freeze arrows rock!

In my opinion, I prefer no freeze arrows because it makes it hard to do certain moves, you have to twist your body in unusual ways, and I can't even begin to explain the difference between full comboing a song or missing a few notes, thanks to freeze arrows.

All in all, I don't mind them in certain songs, but for songs like Twilight Zone, i prefer to have them OFF.

Also, a speed enhancement helps, like X1.5 or X2 even!E10.gif

I love freeze arrows, unfortunatly, I'm very light and have to bounce a lot to keep them recognizing that I'm standing on them, so in songs with lots of freeze, my ankles get a bit tired.

Freeze arrows are my friends. I like them. I play nice with them and they are nice back. They are a bit constricting with your freedom, but that's exactly what they are made to do.

Freeze arrows are the best thing since sliced bread for DDR. I'm glad they added them as they've added a couple of degrees of difficulty to the game.

I think Freeze Arrows are kool, they look so kool and are good for songs that freeze, just imagine the middle of Max300 without the freeze hold...you would just stand there MENACINGLY!!!

Hmm... That really struck me as funny! laugh.gif I dunno why...
I'm about 98-102 lbs. so I suck at freeze arrows at the arcade, but I rule at home. I have a kinda cool freestyle-ish routine to Sandstorm on standard... whole lotta spins...

The bracketed arrows are the freese arrows, and the are 1/8th notes.

Yeah, they provide a challenge to the game which is one of the reasons why I like DDR MAX aka 6th Mix so much. Freezes to me add a new dimension to the game cause you hold the Freeze with one foot and hit other arrows while doing it. Freeze arrows are fun, but if you love freezes I suggest trying these songs try EE on Doubles Heavy and Silent Hill/3rd Christmas Mix. nerd.gif

I can't remember what the song is now, maybe it was Candy (star) heavy... does that have freeze? Anyway, I was doing some song earlier today and it had a freeze arrow, along with some steps during the freeze, and I was actually able to move my foot quick enough that I could hit individual steps with the foot I was using to hold the freeze, then move it back quick enough that I didn't get a N.G.

Freeze arrows are cool. They add a much-needed variation to the songs, a different kind of move to "hammer the arrows" and "hammer the arrows faster". They also lead to further, more complicated maneuvers (like the good old wrong-sided press, remember the first time you had to hit left with right foot, or vice versa, because your usual foot was frozen).

For FreeStyle, they are the business, giving you a bit of time to pose and go with it - my favourite being the double-freeze on Spin the Disc doubles, time to scratch those air-decks....
