If Konami put out "DDR MAX 1.5" which was a 60-fps/fmv compilation of DDR USA and KONAMIX, I'd buy it right away. 30fps hurts my eyes now.

I would be on that like a hobo on a haaaaaam sandwich.

Because 30 fps is just so... hard. And those songs are so much fun. I HATE IT!!!!

The deal is this, KoA thinks they know what is best without even consulting the thing that keeps them alive, the customers. They have not listened to our desires and requests and have turned a deaf ear to them. I mean, no offesnse but I think the Song List could have been so much better. And im hoping that KoA have put in Oni mode on this new home version, if they didn't that would be proof that KoA doesn't give a damn about what the people want.
Now I know that some people are saying that if we really wanted to we could mod our PS2 to play imported games. The fact is, its not as easy as it sounds. If it was that easy everyone on this board would have a modded PS2 about now. I have been trying to mod my PS2 for nearly a year, and it is hard to first find a place in my area that does mods, and then find someone to mod it for me who is reliable. I can't buy online cause im not gonna ship my PS2 halfway across the country to some guy who I don't even know. Lets face it, everyone on this board wants the imported versions BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN GET THEM!

Ok look heres my pov on the game it should have all or mostly all the songs from the arcade, then have what ever songs they throw at us.

So you want Konami to go out of their way to cut through legal red tape in trying to license a bunch of songs the majority of the US won't care about - sorry, folks, Judy Crystal isn't a hot commodity - as well as inflate the budget for the game dramatically so it's $50, maybe $60, and then you want new songs on TOP of that?

It's really simple: IF YOU WANT THE JAPANESE MIXES, IMPORT THEM.

Now since people have diff povs of the game mine is I want like the arcade plus now then in a percentage how much od you reall like konamix,MAX, and upcoming MAX2 songlist and the feats that we know so far are in them.

I liked Konamix. I loved MAX. I expect I will love MAX2USA. I see no reason to give you "percentages" because my love for one shouldn't limit my love for another.

I'm still gonna get max 2 but I wish KOA would listen to us from there own message board and give up a real ddr experience.

Oh, obviously you think you're on Konami's boards. Konami's boards are at:

If you really want them to listen to you, why not post this thread over there?

Please explain something to me. How can you honestly think that Konami doesn't care about the US DDR market? Regardless of whether or not they acknowledge the importing of arcade machines, they realize that the US market is the largest group that they sell to. Being good at business, they know that they can't just cater to established customers, but they know that they have to try to bring in new customers. So, they put in old familiar songs that they know veterans like, they put in the songs new to the particular version they we expect, and they give us new exclusives that new people will recognize to lure them in. It worked really well for them for MaxUS, and Max2US seems to be even better, with even more emphasis on veterans. Konami is doing a great job, IMO, and I hope it continues.

I personally think they take all of us for granted in one way or another. Konami needs to stop being selfish and needs to listen to what the people want. I mean what the DDR players want, I think it's stupid now Konami continues to make crappy DDR home versions of the game that isn't nowhere close to the actual mix. I refuse to buy anymore US DDR games and buy the imports instead, Konamix was my last and I'm stickin to SM from now on. With SM, I can pick whatever the heck I want and play it...

You are one guy, on a message board of about 30,000.

Of those 30,000, let's be really, really generous and say 1/2 bought MAX.

MAX sold over 100,000 copies in the first two months. Let's be semi-conservative and say it only sold 50,000 in the following months.

150,000 copies sold.
15,000 sold to people who have accounts on DDRFreak.

Now, the MAJORITY of DDRFreak didn't doggy about MAX, surprisingly. I'd honestly say I've seen about 500 people complain, and that's being very very liberal.

500 out of 150,000 is less than 1%. It's not even 1/2 of 1%.

Now, on the other hand, there was a MASSIVE uproar about Konamix. People complained about the engine being crap, the bonus features being crap, the songlist being crap, etc.

Then we had a game with the MAX engine, with Oni mode, and with 15 new tracks, in addition to some familiar licenses.

Point being: Konami listens. But not when it's just a couple people bitching for a game that wouldn't be cost effective to make, let alone marketable.

First of all, let's get the arcade vs. home argument settled: Konami of America closed its arcade division ages ago. Just - don't - even hope for a new arcade mix altogether, okay? It's not going to happen unless you're thinking about this - http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/screenbig.php?file=images/screens/developers%20-%20Mike/ddr_cab_with_sm.jpg.

Second, with the arcade versions out of consideration, you're already getting more than your money's worth with DDR MAX (US). Granted you don't get EXACTLY what's in the arcade, and excluding comparison to DDR EX, MAX US wins over most import mixes by number of songs alone.

As far as licensed songs are concerned, we already know the deal about how much more it would cost for the US to import the same songs from DanceMania albums, not to mention that KOA is getting smarter by putting in more tracks that we recognize (Days Go By and etc.). I mean, why spend the money to get stuff we already know when you can get more original, recognizable titles for the same price?

So there - I understand the urge for the general underground public to praise everything foreign and bash everything domestic, but for once, just for once, can't you just enjoy what you have for what it is and start seeing some GOOD side to it, instead of just rambling on and on about how "it's not authentic enough" for you?
